The butterfly is one the most powerful representatives and teachers of transformation.  In its chrysalis, its old form completely disintegrates, turning into a gooey blob of mush.  (Much like many of us feel on our path to self-liberation at times.)  It allows all of what it once was to fade away and to be reconstructed into something completely new.  And by surrendering to the intelligence of Creation, it emerges with its wings, able to experience itself and the world at new heights.
